My Work for Fables Studios (2015-2018)

“The Story of a Boy in an All Girls School” (2020)

This was a show that had to travel in a small box truck with a second show’s set packed in there as well.

The goal was to make it as compact as possible, so the lockers on one side (constructed out of scrap 1/4” plywood), rotate, and on the other side you have the “classroom”, with the black board on top, and hand painted wood gran below, done by my students under my direction.

When you flip the blackboard down after you undo it’s hook and latch, it folds down to make a brick/cement wall to represent the back of the schoolyard.

I designed and built this over the span of about 25 hours throughout 2 weeks. Much of the painting was done by my students at the high school.

Akron Haunted Schoolhouse and Laboratory (2020)

(Sewer)

In this set of photos, you will see the sewer scene that I helped construct. This was finished in the span of two weeks, and added several minutes to the end of the show, when it comes to

extending the length of the ending. I hailed design this, as well as took part in the construction and most all of the finishing.

(Castle Themed Bar)

This castle was constructed out of framing, vacu-form panels, and foam carved elements. This bar has 20 foot tall towers and was over 30 feet wide.

Godspell (2019)

We built this over the span of 1 month, working 25 hours a week at College of DuPage. On this set, I worked on the floor painting, constructed the buildings, gazebo roof, and balconies, as

well as installed all the doors and windows.

Scenes From an Execution (2020)

On this set, I constructed the renaissance era scaffolding that you see below, that rolled on casters, as well as worked on the frames of the rolling “canvases” below, and did all of the fabric

stretching. I also painted the floor from black to wood grain.

Watson and Holmes (2019-20)

(This set received a Grammy nomination)

This set was built for the premiere of “Watson and Holmes” for Buffalo Theatre Ensemble. This took 6 weeks with a crew of 6-10 working 5 hours a day. It was 19 feet tall and 34 feet wide. On this set I worked on the construction, detail, and I did all the math for the set. Above, you will see large wooden beams, and those had foam carved wood grain and ranged from 17-26 feet long. The stair treads, foam wooden beams, and floor were all finished with hand painted wood grain, by myself and two others.

Eyuridice 2020

(Selected for IHSA theater fest show feature)

I was the lighting designer on this show and assistant set designer/carpenter. This set utilized thin muslin walls for backlighting, and translucent UV paint to show off all of the letters that were written back and forth between Orpheus and Euyridice in the underworld.
